Moisiu “decrees” the three CEC members
Central Elections Commission was completed yesterday with seven members that means opening of the way for the election of the new chairman of this institution and preparation for the approaching local elections.Flamur Cato, member proposed by the Socialist Party and appointed by the High Council of Justice; Arben Ristani, proposed by small rightwing parties and elected by the parliament; and Fatmir Kumbaro, proposed by the Socialist Party and appointed by the head of state himself, sworn yesterday in the Presidency on the Constitution of Albania for respecting the law during their assignment. The four other members of the Central Elections Commission, Klement Zguri, Clirim Gjata, Deshira Subashi, Dod Prenga as well as the staff of the President of Republic were present in the ceremony, but what was obvious was that President was trying to show to both, politics and CEC members that they are independent from the politics, non-inviting any political force in this ceremony, different from other instances, where political force. After congratulating them for the new assignment, President Moisiu urged the CEC members to stay as far as possible from the politics. “It is up to your moral, constitutional and legal consciousness to always keep in mind these requirements by staying loyal to your duty. What is important, is that you through your stand, work and cooperation to transmit such a spirit that will bring collaboration and not disorientation among various political forces. Once again I wish you all the best in your work in the interest of the development of democracy and further strengthening of our country, which aspires to integrate in NATO and European Union,” Moisiu said. According to him, the CEC is a constitutional institution charged to organise the holding and verification of elections in the Republic of Albania. Referring to the debates accompanying the selection process of three new members, Moisiu called them on to respect the law. Yesterday, the Central Election Commission was assembled in its full-form for the first time after several months. Its actual head, Klement Zguri also declared the CEC programme in the eve of local elections.
