Tirana erhält bis 2012 ein neues Abwasser und Kanal System

Tirana With New Canalisation System by 2021
Minister of Public Works, Transports and Telecommunications Basha presented yesterday the Draft-Final Report of the Feasibility Study of the Canalisation System and Sewage Cleaning Plant for the Greater Tirana. According to the study, it is foreseen that in 2021, Tirana will not anymore have problems regarding the canalisations. In the process for the preparation of this report, there were involved all stakeholders, like representatives of the local government like, Municipality of Tirana and Kamez or other communes, officials of the water-supply enterprise, representatives of non-governmental organisations operating in environmental and public health issues, representatives of financial institutions operating in our country. The study has determined a final project that would definitely solve the problem of canalisations and sewage cleaning in Tirana. “In the process of the project for Tirana’s canalisation system, apart from meeting the European standards of waters discharged in surface waters, it will be enabled that even zones newly inhabited have a contemporary canalisation system,” Basha said. The project is divided in three phases and is due to last until 2021 reaching a total value of 300 million US dollars. According to Minister Basha, by the end of the third phase of the project, as foreseen in the study, we will have a canalisation and cleaning system, which will cover the needs of a population of one million people. In addition, it is foreseen the construction of 184 km of main and secondary pipeline, along with two pumping station and two cleaning plants. Part of this study is also the identification of a priority project, which will focus on the most populated area of the city of Tirana, the one of Lana watershed. The total cost of this project is about 94 US dollars.
